Dare to Dream Aviation
Renter Proficiency Check Policy Update
Effective June 1, 2025
Dear Valued Renter,
In our commitment to safety, professionalism, and maintaining the highest standards in aircraft operation, Dare to Dream Aviation is implementing a mandatory 12-month proficiency check for all renters, effective June 1st, 2025.
This decision comes in response to recent trends of improper aircraft handling and policy violations that compromise safety, increase maintenance costs, and reduce aircraft availability.
-
Required every 12 calendar months from the date of your most recent flight review, rental checkout, or FAA checkride—whichever occurred last
-
Minimum 1-hour flight and 1-hour ground with a Dare to Dream CFI, may be longer based on level of proficiency and how long it takes to complete all check items.
-
Renter pays standard instructor, aircraft, and fuel rates
Flight Review Will Include:
Preflight & Ground Review
-
Preflight inspection following POH and DTD standards
-
Review of rental policies, KPMP procedures, and emergency protocols
-
Weather briefing and basic risk assessment
In-Flight Maneuvers
-
Normal, short, and soft-field takeoffs/landings
-
Basic airwork: stalls, slow flight, steep turns
-
Simulated engine-out and emergency response
-
Navigation and cockpit management, including avionics and checklist use
Post-Flight
-
Shutdown and aircraft securing
-
Debrief and performance evaluation
Performance Evaluation
If the assigned CFI or Chief Pilot deems your performance unsatisfactory, you will be required to complete remedial flight training before you may resume rental privileges. The duration and scope of this training will be determined based on the areas identified for improvement.
Thank you for your cooperation and for being a part of our aviation community. Your commitment to proficiency helps us all fly safer.
Blue skies,
Dare to Dream Aviation
